Nashville is boring!!

After waking up in the parking lot of the Nashville KOA, we checked into our reserved, economy campsite, Z65. No electricity hookup, no water. A picnic table and some dirt. We got into a historic battle with the tent, and won! (girls 1, tent 0.)
We took advantage of the KOA's pool and laid outside like the layabouts that we are. But don't worry! We were wearing sunblock.
Then, after taking showers in the luxurious poolside public showers, we were off to the Grand Ole Opry House, which was a terrific-looking building but we couldn't go inside because there were no shows going on. Then we went to the Opry Mills, probably the most impressive mall we've seen so far. The floors were so shiny you could see yourself in the reflection. It has a stingray tank, two carousels, and a restaurant called the Aquarium, where you sit in between huge tanks of tropical fish, eating your.. well, fish, probably.
The Opry Mills also had a Rainforest Cafe, where the waitstaff wear khaki and refer to themselves as "safari guides." The animals come to life and there are thunderstorms inside! We decided to get fancy and ordered Shirley Temples and diet cokes instead of water.
Now, we're sitting around a campfire, writing postcards home to you all and roasting marshmallows. The fireflies are out.
Goodnight families!

Meghan, Caity, Molly, and Cait

PS: we would like to give a shout-out to Aslan
Hi everyone!!

It took us forever to find someplace where our laptops would pick up internet, but luckily they have it at the Nashville, Tennessee KOA campground!

Basic rundown so far:

Our first day we got to Maryland and discovered the flattest tire we had ever seen.
It was on the Denali.
But! Some friendly fellows at the gas station we were at put the spare on. Awesome!

We made it safely to Ashburn, Virginia, our first stop, and had a great dinner at Meghan's grandparents, Helen and Bill's house. it was great to have a full meal, even though we had only left that morning. We're wusses I guess.
So after we met Meghan's incredibly friendly family, we went to bed at Aunt Judy and Uncle Roger's house in probably the cutest guest rooms ever.
In the morning we woke up and went back to Helen and Bill's house to see Helen get interviewed by a freelance camera crew, which was pretty sweet.

After that was done, we packed the Denali back up and followed Aunt Judy to a Goodyear tire dealer so we could get a spare. A great tire guy named Ed who was originally from Southie hooked us up with a pretty good price, so we bought him a Colossal Donut from Shoppers, the grocery chain they have in Virginia. They were really huge donuts.
A big Thank You to Steve Donnelly for buying us the spare tire so we can continue our cross-country adventures! Man of the Week!

With our new tire and our stomachs full of colossal donuts, we drove to the Metro station to go into DC. The Metro is just like the T in Boston except that the stations don't smell like pee and the trains are carpeted! Exciting.
So we parked in a parking garage and took the Metro to the Federal Square stop. We had to go to the bathroom, so we went into the Ronald Reagan trade center. There we had to show ID's and put our bags through an x-ray conveyor belt. Officially the most trouble we've had to go through to pee thus far. We ate at subway in the food court, then proceeded to SEE SOME SIGHTS!

We saw the Washington Monument, the reflecting pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. They were all very big and very patriotic and.. amazing.
We walked to Pennsylvania Avenue to see the White House, but they had it caution-taped off! A very southern bystander told us that George Bush and Dick Cheney were going to be taking a walk, and that's why the street was closed off. Seriously! By this point it was at least a hundred degrees out, so we decided to hoof it to the nearest Metro station and head back to the car.

After stopping at a grocery store for fruit, we were on the road again! We drove through the night to Nashville, Tennessee. We drove through mountains and saw more truckers than we even knew imagined. Seriously, there was barely a vehicle on the road that wasn't an eighteen wheeler.

So! It's 6:51 Tennessee Time and we're waiting for the KOA to open so we can pitch the tent and take a nap. (We called in a reservation yesterday so that the camp site would be ready.)
After we sleep for a bit we'll try and upload some pictures!

Stay tuned!! Next up is seeing Nashville and Memphis!

We love you guys!
